She has 17 years experience of working with children and adults and also supervising such work. Currently in private practice, she is also engaged part-time as a freelance Senior Associate Therapist with private organizations in education and fostering.
Lorna’s approach is set in a Person Centred way of being and is Humanistic and Integrative. She regularly uses creative methods and the way in which she works is always informed by the client, the relationship being the most important aspect of therapy.
Since 1995 her therapeutic experience has included working in schools, the community, Health Trust and voluntary organizations such as the NSPCC and Action for Children. She has worked with a wide variety of issues and a particular specialism is working with children and adults who have experienced child sexual abuse.
Prior to commencing her career in psychotherapy, Lorna’s professional life covered a wide spectrum which she regards as having provided her with a host of experiences and learning opportunities that have given her invaluable life experience and a solid foundation for therapeutic work.
Lorna wants to support people to feel enabled to make appropriate choices for themselves in order to feel stronger and safer, and has a firm belief in children’s and adults’ capacity to think for themselves given the right non-judgmental encouragement and support. She is happy to answer any queries about how she works with no obligation.
