Susannah Crump - Mindfulness therapist
Susannah has been teaching mindfulness-based approaches in Newcastle upon Tyne and Northumberland since 2005. She has taught various groups of participants including health professionals, therapists and NHS patients as well as the general public.
Susannah trained in counselling in the 1990s having previously been a teacher of children with special educational needs. She also completed a Dance Leaders in the Community Certificate and led music and movement classes for pre-school children and their parents and carers. Susannah worked as a counsellor first with Relate and then in the NHS, also working as a counselling supervisor.
In 2002 Susannah discovered Jon Kabat-Zinn’s book “Wherever you go there you are-mindfulness meditation for every day life” which touched her deeply, affirming her sense of the connectedness between mind and body. Inspired by this book, Susannah began to develop a personal mindfulness practice. From 2003 she trained in mindfulness-based approaches through the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, (CMRP) Bangor University Masters programme and Mindfulness teacher training retreats.
As well as teaching mindfulness-based approaches to local groups, Susannah is also as an Associate Teacher for the CMRP, Bangor teaching individuals through the Centre’s Distance Learning programme and supervising mindfulness teachers and trainees.
